Refugee Support
We guide individuals to overcome limitations and find their right path. Let's embark on this journey together.
Strategic Settlement Program: ASCENT
The Foundation's ASCENT program, “Accelerating Settlement through Community Engagement and New Technologies,” is a transformative initiative that directly addresses settlement challenges. ASCENT focuses on equipping refugees and newcomers in Metro Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Moncton with critical digital skills, employment readiness, and social integration opportunities. This innovative program has a goal to train 2,000 participants over five years, ensuring their successful adaptation to Canada’s digital economy
Comprehensive Digital Skills Training
ASCENT delivers practical workshops tailored to bridging the digital skills gap among newcomers. The curriculum includes fundamental computer literacy, internet navigation, cybersecurity awareness, and advanced digital tools training. These skills empower participants to confidently engage with Canada’s technology-driven society while fostering resilience against online harms
Employment-Centered Initiatives
Employment support is at the heart of ASCENT. The Foundation organizes networking events, job fairs, and meet-ups to connect newcomers with potential employers. Additionally, the program incorporates employment-related language training, emphasizing digital terminology and workplace communication to boost participants’ employability
Addressing Online Harms
In response to the increasing prevalence of online hate and misinformation, ASCENT integrates education on digital citizenship and online safety. Participants learn to identify and combat xenophobia, misinformation, and other forms of online harm, fostering their ability to fully participate in Canadian society while protecting their digital identities
National Strategic Partnerships for Refugee Support
The Foundation partners with key organizations such as the Association of Neighbourhood Houses, BC Refugee Hub, Muslim Food Bank and Community Services, Jewish Immigrant Aid Services, and the Newcomers Centre in Calgary. These collaborations extend holistic settlement services, ranging from food security and spiritual support to employment assistance and vocational training.
Multilingual and Inclusive Outreach
The Foundation’s outreach strategy ensures accessibility for all refugees and newcomers, offering multilingual marketing materials and community-based information sessions. Collaborations with local non-profits, faith-based organizations, and employment agencies ensure the program reaches diverse populations while remaining culturally sensitive
Cultural and Social Integration
The Foundation prioritizes community engagement by hosting cultural exchange programs and promoting interfaith dialogue. These initiatives aim to create supportive environments where newcomers can connect with local communities, share their heritage, and foster mutual understanding
Commitment to Empowerment and Opportunity
Through its targeted initiatives, the Foundation addresses systemic barriers faced by racialized newcomers and religious minorities. Programming includes anti-racism workshops, cultural sensitivity training, and resources for exercising religious freedoms, ensuring that settlement services are inclusive and equitable.
