Community Conversations Roadshow
The Community Conversations Roadshow is a core initiative to convene, in person, with members of the public, community networks, faith communities, local politicians, and key stakeholders across Canada.
Our Theory Of Change
At our core, we believe meaningful change happens when communities come together, engage in honest dialogue, and form genuine connections. Our goal is to dismantle systemic prejudice while fostering strong, resilient multicultural communities across British Columbia and Canada. We achieve this through two key initiatives:
1. The Community Conversations Roadshow
Building Community Networks and Promoting Multiculturalism
We bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders— includingin, First Nations, faith-based and IBPOC communities, all levels of government, businesses, and the general public—to address real-world challenges and strengthen community networks. By connecting those who need it most with relevant resources, we help build a supportive and diverse cultural mosaic in which each unique culture is respected and valued.
- Connecting on the Ground: Our Roadshow events take place in communities where needs are most pressing, ensuring we address local issues directly.
- Cross-Sector Collaboration: By involving government, business, and community leaders, we foster partnerships that drive long-term, sustainable solutions.
- Celebrating Everyone: We champion the value of every culture, promoting understanding and mutual respect as the foundation of a thriving society.
2. The Community Conversations Happy Hour
Eliminating Individual Biases and Connecting Communities
We host small, informal gatherings in cafés and other public spaces, creating safe environments for people of different backgrounds to meet and engage on a personal level. These face-to-face interactions build empathy, challenge biases, and nurture positive relationships within our communities.
- Productive Spaces for Dialogue: Participants are encouraged to share experiences, learn from one another, and build authentic human connections.
- Reducing Negative Perceptions: Research from the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) demonstrates that direct interactions with new immigrants, religious minorities, and refugees more than double the likelihood of having a positive opinion of these groups.
- Strengthening Community Ties: By fostering open conversation, we help break down barriers and cultivate inclusive, welcoming neighborhoods.
Through these initiatives (formerly under the brand "The Anti-Racism Roadshow", we create a ripple effect—shifting attitudes, inspiring action, and ultimately shaping communities that honor and celebrate every voice.
By coming together, we can transform individual perspectives and systemic structures alike, ensuring that multiculturalism thrives in every corner of our society.
